Terms of Service

Last updated: July 1, 2026

In plain English: Be 13 or older. Write your own letters and record your own videos; don't write threats, illegal content, or anyone else's private information into them. You own what you write. We provide the tool; if something goes wrong, our liability is limited. Disputes go to Oklahoma. The longer version below has the legal details.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of KinLetter, a product of Version2Labs, including our mobile apps, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Who can use KinLetter

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services in your country, if that age is higher, to use KinLetter. If you are between that age and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use KinLetter with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. By using KinLetter you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Your account

3. Acceptable use

KinLetter is for staying in touch with your inner circle. You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of everything you write, speak, or upload to KinLetter ("Your Content"). You grant KinLetter a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, and process Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the Service for you and delivering Your Content to the people you've invited to your inner circle. This license ends when you or we delete Your Content, except for any backups that roll off within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have the right to post it and that it does not violate these Terms or the rights of anyone else.

Video content

Video Moments. You may record and send Video Moments (up to 60 seconds each) to your inner circle. Video Moments are recorded live from your device camera and are ephemeral: they expire and are permanently deleted 7 days after creation. You cannot recover a Video Moment once it has expired.

Prohibited video content. All rules in Section 3 (Acceptable use) apply equally to video content. In addition, you agree not to record or upload videos that contain nudity, sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or content that depicts or endangers minors. Video content that violates these rules may be removed, and accounts that repeatedly violate them may be suspended or terminated.

5. Safety & Content Moderation

KinLetter provides tools to help you manage your experience and keep our community safe.

Reporting. You can report content that you believe violates these Terms by using the "Report" feature in the app. We review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

Blocking. You can block other users at any time. When you block someone, their updates will no longer appear in your feed, and they will not be able to share content with you.

Content Removal. We reserve the right to review, remove, or disable access to any content that, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms, is objectionable, or is harmful to other users or third parties. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate these Terms.

Automated Content Filter. KinLetter uses an AI-powered content filter that automatically screens notes and replies for harassment, hate speech, self-harm, sexual content, violence, and other harmful material before they are delivered to recipients. Content flagged by the filter may be blocked or removed. The filter is automated and may occasionally flag content incorrectly; if you believe your content was flagged in error, contact us at hello@kinletter.com.

No Obligation to Monitor. Beyond the automated content filter described above, we are not obligated to manually monitor or review all user content, but we may do so at our discretion. You remain solely responsible for the content you share through the Service.

6. AI-generated content

KinLetter uses artificial intelligence to help shape your raw notes into a polished note, post, or letter, and to maintain a "life context" summary about you. Some things to understand:

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described there.

8. Third-party services

KinLetter relies on third-party providers (Supabase, Render, OpenAI, Cloudflare, Resend, Expo, Apple, Google) to operate. Their services are subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for outages, data handling, or actions taken by these providers, though we choose providers we believe are reputable.

9. Account suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account inside the app, or by following the steps on our Account Deletion page.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if we believe you have violated these Terms, if continued access poses a legal or security risk, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable, we'll give you notice and an opportunity to address the issue.

10. Changes to the Service

KinLetter is an evolving product. We may add, change, or remove features. We'll try to give reasonable notice of material changes, but we don't guarantee that any feature will remain available.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. KINLETTER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE FROM HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT AI-GENERATED OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KINLETTER AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (USD $100).

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KinLetter and its owners from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from (i) Your Content, (ii) your use of the Service, or (iii) your violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Oklahoma, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing a claim against us, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by emailing us at hello@kinletter.com. We'll try to do the same. If we can't resolve it within 60 days, either of us may pursue formal proceedings.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, by email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
