Frequently asked
Is KinLetter free?
Yes, for now. We'll let you know well in advance if anything changes.
How private is private?
Your published updates are visible only to the people you've invited and who have accepted the invitation. There is no public link, no shareable URL, and no audience beyond your circle. Privacy is enforced at the database layer, not just the UI. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
How does the AI work?
When you write or speak a few notes, KinLetter sends them to an AI model (currently OpenAI's GPT family) which returns a more polished version — a post, a note, or a full letter. You can edit the draft freely before publishing. The AI also maintains a short "life context" summary about you (family, job, recurring themes) so it doesn't need you to re-explain yourself each week. You can review and approve the context before it's used.
Does my voice get sent anywhere?
No. Speech-to-text runs on your device. The audio never leaves your phone. Only the transcribed text is sent to KinLetter once you submit.
Can someone outside my circle see my updates?
No. There is no public profile, no public link, and no way to share an update outside your circle through the app. If someone in your circle takes a screenshot, that's outside our control — choose your circle thoughtfully.
How do I invite someone to my inner circle?
Open the app, go to Circle → Invite, and enter their username. They'll see the invitation under Circle → Invitations the next time they open KinLetter. Connections are mutual — both of you can read each other's published updates once accepted.
Can I change my username?
No. Usernames are permanent and set once at signup. Your display name can be updated anytime from Profile → Settings.
I forgot my password.
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email. We'll send a reset link.
How do I delete my account?
From inside the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. For details on what gets deleted, see our Account Deletion page. If you can't access the app, email hello@kinletter.com from the address on your account and we'll handle it.
I think I found a bug.
Email hello@kinletter.com with what happened, what you expected, your device model, and your iOS or Android version if you know it. Screenshots help a lot.
How can I send feedback or suggest a feature?
Same email — hello@kinletter.com. We read everything and a lot of the product has come from notes like yours.
Still need help?
